It’s a real problem that so many people are interested in what and where we browse on the internet – anonymous software is practically essential. We are watched and monitored by everyone, governments, agencies, advertisers and identity thieves are all tracking our browsing movements for their own reasons.

In Europe we have a directive that forces ISPs to log all our communications for up to two years, and many countries are planning to put that data on central databases to be used by ‘selected agencies’. Is it just me or can you imagine some horrible situations where your browsing history is used against innocent people. Presumably the police will have access in some situations, someone is accused of a crime they check their suspects browsing records – is that evidence? I find it all very worrying which is why I use anonymous software to stop my browsing habits being monitored on the internet. I don’t visit illegal sites or engage in any criminal activities but I simply value my privacy. For instance I have an interest in religion and terrorism, but I am neither religious or a terrorist however my browsing habits may well mark me out as being one!

The problem with being anonymous on the internet is people often try and do it for free which is generally a huge mistake unless you know the systems administrator somewhere. The usual method is to find an anonymous proxy from a list, set it up in your browser and then think you are surfing anonymously. Sadly this is very far from the truth, the majority of the ‘free anonymous proxies’ are probably the most most vulnerable and insecure servers on the internet – sending all your browsing through these is a terrible mistake, believe me. If you want to be really secure you have to use a professional service on the internet and proper anonymous software.
