The Best Water Purification Systems For Home Use

There are so many home water purification products out there that it can be hard to choose the one that is best for you. Today we will be examining a few of these products and outlining the pros and cons of each. By the end of this article, you will be able to feel informed and ready to make a decision about what water purification method would be best for your home and family.

Water purification systems for home use come in three basic setups; the filtered pitcher, the countertop filtering system, and the under counter filtering system. Each of these products has good traits and bad, and sometimes choosing between them can be difficult, as each promises you the best water money can buy.

The least expensive system to buy is a filtered pitcher. The best aspects of this system are that it is inexpensive to purchase, portable, can fit in the refrigerator, and is far better than drinking tap water. This product has a number of downsides, however. The filters in these pitchers need to be changed often in order to get continually good water, and the filters can become quite expensive over time. In addition, these pitchers have a very limited capacity. As far as the quality of water is concerned, these pitchers essentially filter out large sediment and chlorine. This is certainly a good thing, but there are over 2,000 carcinogenic chemicals that are commonly found in tap water. Filtered pitchers are simply inefficient at removing all of these chemicals.

The second most popular system is a reverse osmosis system. These can be on or under counter systems. The pros of purchasing one of these systems are that they can produce large amounts of water and that they are significantly better at filtering out chemicals than filtered pitchers. These water purification products are certainly among the more effective ones.

The downside to these products is that they also remove necessary minerals from your water that your body relies on to maintain optimal health. All naturally occurring sources of water contain minerals such as magnesium and calcium, and they are essential to your body. In addition, these systems do not remove all chemicals from your drinking water. For every gallon of viable water produced by a reverse osmosis system, two gallons are wasted. This is, to say the least, not environmentally friendly. While cheaper per gallon than filtered pitchers, reverse osmosis systems cost an average of over twenty cents per gallon of water produced.

The final group of water purification systems for home use is multi system water filtering systems. These systems can also be made for on or under counter installation. The pros to this type of system are that they are significantly cheaper per gallon, costing on average only about ten cents. These systems also retain all of the minerals that other systems remove while removing more of the chemicals and toxins than any of the other systems.

The drawback to these systems is that they cost considerably more than the average filter pitchers. That said, however, they have a much greater capacity and the filters need only to be changed about twice a year, which adds a lot of convenience. Over the life of the product, when taking filter replacement into account, these systems actually end up being the most cost efficient while also offering the safest and healthiest water.

When it comes to water purification products, you have a lot of options. What I would personally recommend, however, is a multi stage water purifying system. While the initial cost is higher, the savings are significant over the life of the product and the water quality is immeasurably higher. Water is the most important thing we take into our bodies and actually comprises about 70% of them, so it is one thing we should all take seriously. I urge you to use a water purification product in your home, and if you want my honest opinion, the multi stage system is by far the best thing you will ever purchase for your family.
